Athena Train Observer Application Simulation
Athena was a training simulation intended to implement the Transport Canada Emergency Response Plan. This simulation was used to see if certain deficiencies can be corrected, but most importantly to allow the various response teams to anticipate possible dangers and difficulties. Many organizations participated in the Athena exercise, including the Defense Research and Development Safety Science Center, the CP and CN Railway Companies, the Association of Fire Chiefs of Quebec, first responders, and also industrial members, like Suncor. SimWave, in collaboration with SimFront, created a field theoretical training simulation for the Athena exercise on Windows tablets. SimWave provided the graphical assets, GPS mapping, and interactivity for this tool and worked alongside ISR to ensure that the requirements for the exercise were fulfilled.
