Today, Josh completed some preliminary solenoid testing. A relay board was interfaced with an Arduino microcontroller to control power sent to a solenoid valve hooked up to a 12V power supply. The solenoid was attached to our air compressor and we were able to test the ballistic firing effect using various burst speeds and delays. This was the first time we got to play with our air compressor.
Josh took the solenoids to the next level, having them synced up to the audio of gun fire. Every time a gunshot would go off, the solenoid would shoot a burst of air, simulating the effect that the user is getting shot. Even though there are no visual cues set up yet, the audio and the bursts of air feel very immersive.
